Dallas 105.3 The Fan host

“I really want to see him continue to succeed, but I want to see him fail so that he can come out of it and be stronger on the other side of it. The excitement with Zeke, he was the No. 4 pick, so everybody is anticipating he’s the second coming of Emmitt Smith. He showed that he can run. He showed a couple of moves in Seattle. I think it’s less anxiety and more excitement to get the season started, especially with the young crew. We’ve been running with Tony Romo and Jason Witten for a long time. The idea is, okay, maybe this is the new fresh start of the Cowboys.”

“Think about where we were last year. Everyone really, really liked Jim Tomsula as a person, but the whole season was just a nightmare. (It wasn’t) all of Tomsula’s doing. I mean, he had to start the season behind the 8-ball. He had 15 starters not returning, and you had all the off-the-field issues and then injury after injury after injury. You were starting DuJuan Harris as your running back at the end of the season. There’s no Carlos Hyde, you have no line, Anthony Davis retired right before the season – just one thing after another and it was just a nightmare of a season. So where do you go? There’s nowhere to go but up.”

“I’m not going to say he’s a man on a mission, because I think he always has been a good competitor, but he had something to prove to himself – and he has. Adrian Beltre has felt the same way. This club has had the momentum building really since spring training, and when they went out and got Jonathan Lucroy and Carlos Beltran and most recently Carlos Gomez, it just fortified that feeling. This ball club right now is playing as good a baseball as they have all year. If they can just get a little bit of help in the bullpen, I think they’re going to be a force to be reckoned with.”

Former All-Pro NFL LB

“So I need to see a more disciplined, consistent approach to consider them one of the top teams in the NFL. Talent-wise, sure, will they probably rank high in the stats? Sure. But as far as winning close ball games, I need to see more mental toughness from them.”
