After Hours With Amy Lawrence Weekly Rewind 9/12-9/16

MATT CHATHAM – 9/12/16
NESN Patriots reporter

“I think he was very impressive how he came out. He got knocked down a couple times. A couple times they had corner pressures that got there and forced negative plays, but it was his ability to get back up and actually reset himself and have better plays after. He just looked really smooth, not overtaken by the moment.”

RAY RATTO – 9/13/16
CSN Bay Area columnist

“He’s either going to have to play very poorly for an extended period of time or get hurt to lose the job. . . . I think it’s clearly Gabbert’s job, and he’s going to have to lose it pretty demonstrably for us to see a lot of (Colin) Kaepernick.”

DAVID NELSON – 9/14/16
NFL free agent WR

“I’m a big believer in that everybody’s voice has value and has weight and meaning – no matter your platform, no matter your influence. I think Benjamin Watson posted a Facebook comment last week and just talked about it – and it’s from the heart. It wasn’t necessarily the content or the stance or side that he took; it was just the heart of it. He spoke from the heart. When he was speaking, it wasn’t, ‘I’m going to say this because it’s politically correct or it’s what I want people to agree with.’ It came from his heart. As long as that’s something that these guys are doing – because that’s where it’s coming from – then I’m all for it. But the moment it starts to get into a publicity stunt or some type of way to get attention, that’s where I draw the line. I believe that in order to see change or affect change, action must come about. Social justice and social change is just that. It’s the vocal. It’s speaking. What I would encourage those guys to do is to go much further than that. Obviously we’re in the NFL season right now so there’s not much you can do, but instead of just talking about it, put action to it and really activate what you’re saying.”

TYRUNN WALKER – 9/15/16
Lions DT

“I can’t explain it. There’s ebbs and flows in a game and momentum changes constantly, but we just got to be able to finish and complete what we were doing. We started off high in the first quarter especially, and we got to be able to finish that out and get that win for our team.”

MARK KELSO – 9/16/16
Bills radio analyst

“They had their way. In the first half, Matt Forte didn’t have a lot of room to run, but in the second half, (he did). They just had their way with the Bills defensively. They were playing off, they weren’t bringing a lot of pressure, and sometimes they didn’t have safety help and they got caught down the middle of the field a couple times. Sometimes they were in really good position and Jets receivers just made the play. Ryan Fitzpatrick did a masterful job of spreading the ball around. He knew exactly what he wanted to do and he was pulling the trigger quickly and getting rid of it.”
